RN Windsurfing - what's not to like!

The RN Windsurfing Team Training Camp is underway in Vassiliki, Greece. RNSA is delighted to be supporting this important event.

The team split into skill-level groups and received expert coaching from the Nielson team throughout the day. In the afternoon, "Eric" the famous katabatic wind arrived, bringing gusty and challenging conditions that tested everyone's skills on the water.

RNSA and DEFI Wind

The RN Windsurfing Team have just returned from 8 days in Gussain to compete in the famous Defi wind endurance race. This a race like no other and can be considered the Fastnet of windsurfing.

This is not a race for the faint hearted, its only run when the wind is above 20 knots and usually in considerably more wind.

5000 oysters installed on RNSA Moorings

RNSA Moorings in Portsmouth is delighted to be supporting this great regional initiative, led by Harbour Oysters, that now sees some 30,000 oysters filtering 4.5million litres of water each day!

RNSA Members supporting RNLI and Combat Stress

RNSA members are at the heart of Operation Ruby Jack, not least Willie and Vicky Thornewill and Heather and Richard Tarr. Great effort by all involved, well done.

126 miles travelled in a Swan Pedalo, named ‘Grampus’; loaned from Tom Jones Boatyard, to raise monies and awareness for Combat Stress and the RNLI; 7 teams on different days, led by Alan Thornewill and his wife Vicky.

RNSA enables an epic windsurfing opportunity for an RN team.

The RN windsurfing team has arrived in Gruissan, France for the 2026 edition of Défi Wind, and have already been afloat to train on the race course. Excitement is increasing with a promising forecast.

So far, the team has experienced one light-wind day and one breezy session in preparation for the competition.

RNSA Trophies awarded for 2025

RNSA proudly hosted its annual prize-giving at the esteemed Royal Southern Yacht Club this year, making it a truly memorable evening.

We were incredibly honored to have the First Sea Lord join us to present trophies to our deserving winners, and the event was complemented by a delightful three-course meal.

With the generous funding of Greenwich Hospital and the expert delivery of our partners at the Andrew Simpson Foundation, many RN, RM and RFA families have enjoyed the opportunity to learn to sail and build lasting friendships.
